Nike Cross Country National Circuit

BVSW & The Heartland Regional

What is it?

Nike hosts a regional cross country meet where teams from 7 states (Kansas, Nebraska, North & South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota & Wisconsin) come together for a chance to run one last race as a team.  There are many races including a freshman-sophomore race, open races, fun runs & a championship division that a committee selects where the top 2-4 teams (boys & girls) can qualify for the Nike XC National meet in Portland, OR.  For more information go to http://nxn.runnerspace.com/

Where & When

Yankton Park Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Sunday November 12th 2023

Why do it?

Nike provides any high school team an opportunity to compete against schools from a wider range then any high school meet during the season.  It is the best cross country meet in the Midwest.  Our goal every year is to be the best XC team by in the country and this is our chance to measure how good we are against the best.  Being selected as one of the top 35 teams in the championship division is an accomplishment by itself.  Placing in the top 10 is more challenging than any meet we can schedule during the season.

The park is built for fast times & setting PR’s.  We have a chance for everyone to continue their training and have a great experience while representing your school, town, & state in a fun an exciting way.  The meet is of the highest quality consisting of a partitioned finish chute, drones filming the race, big screens & electric timing that post results in real time.  If you are a runner, this is the place to be!

Who goes?

The championship division is for the top 7 runners from the best teams in the Heartland BUT the meet is not just for those runners.  The “rising stars” & open races have wide ranges of abilities from sub 16:00 to 30:00 in both the girls’ & boys’ races.  The most important thing a runner can do to get better is to continue their training.  The best teams in the country have multiple teams in every race.  We have unlimited entries & the more runners we have the less it will cost.

How BVSW does it?

This year we want to bring it back with style!  We are scheduling transportation, hotels, dinner on Saturday & jerseys for the race.  The goal is to take the burden off the parents & provide the athletes with the complete team experience.  Each runner and their family will pay the Southwest Project Track Club a set amount based on the numbers and we will take care of just about everything.

The fee will be on a sliding scale based on how many runners we get signed up.  The fee will take care of the following

1.  Transportation everywhere for the weekend. Leaving Saturday Morning & Returning Sunday Evening
2.  Hotel rooms for the athletes. Athletes will share rooms & breakfast will be provided on the day of the meet
3.  Registration & entry into the meet.  Registration usually comes with a FREE Nike stocking cap
4.  NXR Pasta Dinner the night before the race (Parents CAN attend if they purchase tickets separately)
5.  (Optional) Jersey with Southwest Project logo

What the athlete needs to bring

Money & snacks for Breakfast & Lunch on the way to Sioux Falls along with lunch and dinner on the way back.
Black running shorts and/or tights to race in.
BVSW spirit-ware that is WARM!
